NVYLL is teaming with US Lacrosse and the Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse to offer FREE training to anyone interested in learning how to teach and coach youth lacrosse with a NVYLL program.

Under NVYLL Rule 1.0.8.a:
It is a goal of NVYLL to have all coaches achieve US Lacrosse Certification (for more information on certification see http://www.uslacrosse.org/cep/certification.phtml.) In order to attain that goal, between the date of publication of this rule and the completion of the spring 2010 season, NVYLL, in conjunction with the Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse, will provide the following assistance to coaches interested in achieving US Lacrosse Certification:
a.         pay for or reimburse coaches for taking the field clinics;

b.        provide certificates for coaches to take the online courses free of charge;

c.         provide opportunities to attend a free Positive Coaches Alliance clinic or provide certificates to take the course on-line; and
            d.         reimburse coaches for applying for US Lacrosse certification.
Coaches will need to become member of US Lacrosse to take advantage of these benefits.

So for an investment of $50 (the cost of US Lacrosse membership) you will be:

eligible to attend the Level One field clinic ($65 value). Clinics will be held in Bethesda (Holton Arms) and Leesburg (Simpson Middle School) on January 31st and Alexandria (St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School) on February 14th. To register, go to http://www.uslacrosse.org/cep/winter2010clinics.phtml;

eligible to attend the Level Two field clinic ($65 value). Clinics will be held in Alexandria (St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School) on February 21st. To register, go to http://www.uslacrosse.org/cep/winter2010level2.phtml;

eligible to receive vouchers to take the Level 1 and Level 2 workshops online ($55 value each);

eligible to attend a Positive Coaches Alliance (“PCA) workshop or receive a certificate to take the course online ($25 value).  Dates and location are not yet determined. Membership in US Lacrosse is not a requirement to take this class. For more information on PCA, visit http://www.positivecoach.org/; and

be reimbursed for the cost of applying for certification (including the background check) ($35 value).

So, in a nutshell, for an investment of $50, you can become a US Lacrosse Level 2 certified coach without leaving Northern Virginia. That is a $310 value.

NVYLL’s scheduling policy that may potentially affect participation in NVYLL.

NVYLL is proud to serve the youth in Northern Virginia by providing a quality program of sportsmanship, teamwork, skills development, and fun and, most important, a safe environment.

NVYLL member clubs provide the league their available space (dates & times) to schedule regular season and playoff games. This time and space are dictated by various Parks and Recreation agencies governing the jurisdictions where the clubs are located and area(s) serviced. User space is distributed in conjunction through complex matrices and formulas adopted as policy.

NVYLL game scheduling can not equally recognize, and observe, all the different traditions, logistics and religious customs, by not scheduling games on a particular day, time or at certain locations. We simply can’t be "everything to everyone.” Trying to honor scheduling requests of a club, team and or individual basis is impossible. While we would like to try and accommodate everyone’s wishes, the demand for space is greater than facilities available, so we play when and where the parks and recreation agencies allow us.

The purpose of this bulletin is to advise every family that registers to play lacrosse in NVYLL, that playing on these “special days or times” is a very real possibility and to consider what impact, if any, playing would have on your family. Each club is required to inform every registrant of this bulletin so they can make an informed decision as to their participation in NVYLL. Lacrosse is one of the most rewarding of all the youth sports, but it also requires a time commitment effecting family time.

Please use this page and to access the official web site of the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL).  This site has the schedules, games results, standings, and field directions for all age groups and divisions.

It is also used to post field closings, which is the primary source of this information during the regular season.
